Off now to Lochgreen House Hotel in Troon for fun and frolics at Daniel and Sophie’s wedding. I’ve known Daniel for a few years and had the pleasure of sitting down with the couple just after the Covid lockdowns ended for a chat about their wedding plans. Sophie was keen to put me through my paces and was happy with my pedigree but had one request of me... could I wear two belts? As she’d been at a wedding previously where the ‘tog was flashing a bit of bum and she didn’t want that to be her guests’ enduring memory of their big day!

Message received and suitably belted, I rocked up to Lochgreen to get photos of Sophie and her bridesmaids getting ready. The makeup artistry was in full flow and hair being primped and prepped.

After grabbing a few photos I nabbed the videographer Danny and we went out into the corridor to start re-arranging the furniture. Why Peter? Because the bridal suite was getting quite busy and I wasn’t happy with options for photos of Sophie’s shoes and dress. So we moved a few things about to create a dramatic frame in the corridor instead (thanks to Lochgreen for being understanding of this!)

My second shooter David had arrived by this point and was getting photos with Daniel and his groomsmen downstairs, as well as picking out a few details of the reception room. How fab is this wedding cake from Mrs O’ccasions?

Time was ticking on and the ceremony was drawing closer. Daniel was standing quite nervously at the front of the room waiting for the opening notes from Brad the Piper to signal the arrival of Sophie’s bridesmaids then the lady of the hour herself!

Their ceremony was lovely - adeptly led by Fiona Brodlie who incorporated a lovely quaich ceremony featuring the traditional drink of (checks notes) Tequila Rosé!

Post-ceremony we had to pick our timings with the weather to get outside for some group photos – these family groups completed, Danny and I took the couple for a wander around the hotel grounds then captured some flash photos of them in the beautiful bandstand.

After this we had the speeches, which culminated in a particular story from Daniel’s best man which I can’t even begin to share but got a helluva reaction from the entire wedding party! We left the guests to their meal and headed off to charge batteries and review photos from the morning. Post-dinner we got some photos of the guests relaxing and waited for the first dance to begin.

Now if you have read my FAQs you’ll know that I don’t stipulate ‘first dance’ or ‘third dance’ to my couples. I’m usually there for an hour or two after the dancing begins – until I feel like I’m starting to repeat myself. And the dancefloor action at Daniel and Sophie’s wedding shows why it’s fun to hang around a while – there were plenty of shenanigans going on as you can see!

If I had to use one word to describe Daniel and Sophie’s day, it’s “fun”. Everyone had an absolute blast and I think you can see this coming through in the images. And after all, isn’t that what your wedding should be about? Having a good laugh with your nearest and dearest?

Thanks very much for taking our wedding photos. You turned up on time and did a great job. The photos are brilliant and we could not be happier. We would be happy to recommend you to all our friends and family for any future weddings.
