Well, it's been a wee while since I posted to the blog and I thought I should really do something about that!

Since my last update things have taken a few twists and turns... summer 2023 was a pleasantly busy wedding season for me, and I was editing pretty constantly from July through til October-time. For all it was a busy time, I had some amazing days to shoot including Scott and Gina's day at Western House Hotel, Bobby and Emma at Geilsland Estate and Steven and Ellie at The Hermitage (to name only a few). I feel really fortunate to have had a really good run of lovely couples in lovely venues before the season came to a halt.

Studio Opening

September 2023 saw me make a big leap in the business and take on the lease for a studio! This took a few months to fix up (there were some floor replacement issues, and a touch of asbestos here and there) but once the renovations were completed, it finally opened to the public on November 24th. You are most welcome to come and visit me at 65 New Street in Dalry - just check my Facebook page for weekly opening hours or arrange an appointment.

The renovations to the studio were impacted in part by another big development in life which was the arrival of baby Lewis on November 22nd! He was a tiny wee guy when he arrived but you wouldn't know it from his lung capacity... thankfully he and mum both got through birth and hospital without too much trauma and everyone is ticking along fine now. Ruaraidh is loving being a big brother too. Thanks to Lauren Shaw for the gorgeous photos.

December went past in a blur of newborn-sleep-deprivation, Santa's grotto photographs and, as is now becoming a tradition, a couple of weddings in between Christmas and New Year - one under my own steam for Lorna and Lee at Eden Leisure Village, and the other assisting the towering figure (literally and figuratively) that is David Long with a winter wedding at the Lodge on Loch Lomond.

In between all of this we are also planning our own wedding!

So a busy six months in the Stevenson household and the start of 2024 hasn't really bucked the trend - it's been my busiest time for wedding enquiries since I started the business in 2016, and I'm almost at the point of closing my books for 2024. I'm also well on my way to hitting my target for bookings for 2025!
