I don’t know about you, but I’ve absolutely loved April! The air is filled with the sweet scent of fresh buds and flowers, and the gardens are alive with bees buzzing and butterflies fluttering by. And let’s not forget the constant background music of birdsong - even if it’s just our feathered friends telling each other to “geroff my patch!”.

I managed to take a few days off at the beginning of the month, spending quality time with my family before wedding season properly kicks in. However, I couldn’t stay away too long. I had the pleasure of photographing the Clayton Hotel in Glasgow City Centre; a stunning new wedding venue combining the grandeur of a historic, listed building with everything you’d expect of a modern hotel.

The shoot was a great success, and I can’t wait to share the photos with you soon. The following day, I attended the Clayton’s wedding fayre, and it was wonderful to chat with lots of lovely couples who were carefully considering their wedding photography. Then, it was back to my family holiday, which was a merry-go-round of wrangling my 2-year-old son around play parks and trying to get him to nap!

Since then, I’ve had a several interesting projects come my way, including a sunrise shoot with my good friend, Robbie Logan, an up-and-coming musician who needed some moody pictures for social media and gig posters. We headed to the conifer woods near Dalry and captured some lovely, airy, folky images.

Some of you may have seen my recent posts on Facebook about my BNI group. I’m excited to share that I’m taking a leap, by training to become a Director Consultant for the Scotland West region. This means I’ll be key to helping members grow their businesses. If you need a job done - by a joiner, mortgage advisor, wedding planner, or anyone really, please let me know and I’ll happily connect you.

Wedding season hasn’t ‘officially’ started yet, but May is looking busy, with First Communion photos to be taken in Gourock, and then my first wedding of 2023. I’m also putting a plan together for a week of wildlife photography. Keep an eye on my Instagram page (@peterjsphoto) for some cute, furry and feathered Insta stars.

Before I sign off on this month’s flashback, I want to share two lovely reviews I’ve gratefully received. Firstly, David hired me to photograph his 80th birthday celebrations in Glasgow and shared some extremely kind words about the service I provided.

"Peter provided a superb service in photographing an important family event. Nothing but praise from all who have seen the results."

- David

Secondly, Bryan and Hayley booked me to photograph their wedding in December 2022, and were delighted with the quality of my work and my manner with guests.

"Peter is an outstanding photographer and I cannot recommend him highly enough! The quality of his work is exceptional, he goes above and beyond to capture small details in a creative and thoughtful way. More than his talent as a photographer, Peter is professional and kind, with a natural way with people. This translates to the relaxed and happy photographs he captures! I am delighted with the service he provided and would recommend it to everyone - five stars don’t do him justice!"

- Bryan & Hayley

Thanks to David, Bryan and Hayley for these – your feedback means a lot, and thanks to you for reading April’s epistle.

Until next time,
Peter
